My Weekend DIY Project

So, this weekend I decided to be crafty and do a DIY project.

When Will and I got married we were given a dining room table set from his grandparents. It’s a table they had at their beach house for years! It’s a really nice set, but as I said, it’s quite old. The chair seats were starting to look their age. So, I decided to reupholster them!

I started by looking up how to reupholster chairs so that I knew what I needed to get. All I needed was, fabric, scissors, and a staple gun. Easy enough, right?

I head over to Joann’s and found the fabric I wanted.

Here’s a tip: make sure you look in the clearance section first. I found all three of these fabrics in the $9.99 section. I need to do two chairs with each fabric and I only paid about $20 for all of the fabric I needed.

Another tip is to search the internet for coupons. I found a 20% off my entire order and 30% off one item.

Once I got my fabric, and a few other fun things, I headed home to start the project. “This is going to be easy”, I told myself.

Okay, not completely wrong. It wasn’t that hard it was just frustrating. When I started unscrewing the seat cushions from the chairs I realized I didn’t have the right screw driver, which made the process much longer.

Then I laid out my fabric and began to staple with my new staple gun. The thing was, no staples were coming out. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out my staple problem and then I was good to go. Except I wasn’t, because my staple gun kept getting jammed.

Eventually I did it though and I love the way they turned out!

All in all, this was a good learning process. I learned that I have no patience and that I need to prepare better.

Enjoy πŸ™‚
